An update
Hi to the handful of people who are or were interested in this project, it's not dead, it's just very lethargic. In late 2023 I got a part-time job in addition to my full time job, so I've had less time and energy to dedicate to building out this game. On top of that, with all the corporate nonsense Unity had started pulling, I decided to bail and make the switch to Godot around April-May of last year. You can credit Brackeys for giving me the push towards that. So I've spent most of the past year trying to learn how to use Godot and rebuilding the game from the ground up. A lot of how it works has changed because of the different tools that Godot offers, as well as because of my own desire to stick to the MNOLGII style more closely. I've started but have yet to finish the Inventory system, I haven't written the dialogue, I still have 3-4 Kanohi I need to make models for, and I haven't even touched any kind of audio system. I'd been torn between trying to get out a second demo on the anniversary of the first and just plowing ahead to build something more full, and I think I'm leaning towards the latter, though maybe I'll toss something even more bite sized out there if I can manage. I don't know when the first release will be ready, but progress has been encouraging, at least at those times I have the energy and focus to work on it and I'm not distracted by one of my many other projects. I'd been posting tagged updates on Cohost.org while it was around, but sporadic updates are now done through my Bluesky account. You can find those between pictures of pizzas I've made, complaining about the state of the world, and disjointed jokes about stuff like Bionicle or Star Wars. See you all in the future.
